Chicago – To celebrate the first anniversary of Pokemon Go, developer Niantic hosted Pokemon Go Fest over the weekend. The event let thousands of fans realize their dream of joining fellow Pokemon fans in long lines.
Niantic CEO John Hanke called it a roaring success.
“It thrilled us to see fans uniting for their common interest, whether it was propping each other’s spirits up in the long queue or chanting coordinated shouts for me to get off the stage and die. Who’d have thought we’d come this far after our admittedly difficult launch.”
Niantic thanked the fans for a memorable weekend. “You are truly the greatest fans. You cursed our incompetence, you tried to avoid heat exhaustion, and you had your dreams crushed – but most importantly, you did it all TOGETHER. We hope enjoy catching the newly released legendary Pokemon, as soon as the servers come back up.”
